Naturalist Guide

The position of naturalist guide is a professional job, tasked with implementing the educational mission of Camp Denali and North Face Lodge.  Our naturalist guides are teachers of experiential learning, experienced backcountry hiking guides, and trained drivers.  Even though we operate our active learning program for just 14 weeks each summer, this position provides a career-building opportunity, not just a summer job.  Because of the significant on-the-job training and independent study necessary for proficiency, we request a commitment of at least three seasons' employment as a naturalist guide.

Operations Crew

This skilled and physically demanding position assists the Facilities Manager in maintaining our property.  "Ops" crew members are asked to work individually or with a group of 2-5 maintenance staff performing daily chores and specific projects related to maintenance of grounds, trails, buildings, vehicles, water and electrical systems, and more. Two or more years of experience in building trades, plumbing, mechanical or other operations-related work required.  Also looking for an individual with Supervisory experience or interest to be an Assistant Facilities Manager in Summer 2019.

Housekeeping and Serving Supervisor

This position is a working supervisor who oversees and implements housekeeping of all public buildings and guest accommodations at Camp Denali and North Face Lodge.  Training, supervising and evaluating approximately ten housekeeping staff each season, overseeing laundry, and managing in-season housekeeping projects comprise the bulk of the responsibilities in this position.  As Serving Coordinator he or she is also responsible for training breakfast and dinner servers at both lodges and monitoring their progress throughout the season.

Grower and Groundskeeper

This position is responsible for producing organic vegetables and flowers (in a 20ft x 40ft greenhouse and outdoor raised beds) that are incorporated into the meals at Camp Denali and North Face Lodge.  Other core responsibilities include maintenance of decorative flower boxes and baskets, compost system, trails, lawn and grounds.  There are collaborative, supervisory and educational aspects to this position, as well.

Kitchen Helper/Dishwasher

This is an entry level food service position which is responsible for assisting the breakfast cook in the preparation and plating of guest and staff breakfast, dishwashing, and a schedule of other kitchen organizational and cleaning duties.

Breakfast Cook

The breakfast cook position is a food service leadership role that assists in the training and supervision of a kitchen assistant and kitchen helper, prepares breakfast for guests and staff, may prepare staff lunch and/or be responsible for other food preparation tasks, and is responsible for overall kitchen organization and cleanliness during the shift.  The position can be combined with the position of dinner cook, depending on education, experience and company needs.

Dinner Cook

The dinner cook position is a food service leadership role that assists in the training and supervision of a kitchen assistant and kitchen helper, prepares dinner for guests and staff, participates in cleaning tasks, and is responsible for overall kitchen organization and cleanliness during the shift.

Shuttle Bus Driver

The position of shuttle bus driver is a new and developing role in our 2019 summer season.  We anticipate this position will be charged with safely and reliably transporting guests and staff in buses (carrying up to 32-passengers) to various points along the Denali Park Road.  Bus driving, specifically, may be required anywhere from 0-5 days/week, and may vary from week to week, so flexibility and willingness to work a majority of time in other departments, depending on best fit and company needs will be a necessity.   This position requires a current Class A or B Commercial Driver's License with Passenger and Air Brake Endorsements.

An ideal way for new staff to join our team and gain experience in Denali, this position includes a variety of housekeeping tasks and working as a server for guest breakfast and dinner.
