Job Descriptions

At Camp Denali, community and high quality detail-oriented work are of paramount importance.  We request flexibility and willingness to help with a range of tasks of all our employees.

Most first year and returning staff can expect to work at least two jobs throughout the summer; ratio of work will be dependent upon experience and company needs.  We'll seek to discover what combination of roles will be best for you as part of our application and interview process.

When applying, be sure to review our application process closely.

Host

This professional leadership role is responsible for greeting guests and helping them to navigate our schedule and activity options.  Hosts are also tasked with overseeing and maintaining high standards in all aspects of guest service, ensuring continuity and excellence across the stay. Requirements include excellent communication skills, in both public speaking and private conversation, and tactful oversight among coworkers.  This position is afforded plentiful opportunities to support and contribute to the educational mission of our lodges.  Hosts are primarily promoted from within, due to the extensive amount of organization-specific knowledge required, but we encourage individuals with guest service experience to express interest.

Grower and Groundskeeper

This position is responsible for producing organic vegetables and flowers (in a 20ft x 40ft greenhouse and outdoor raised beds) that are incorporated into the meals at Camp Denali and North Face Lodge.  Other core responsibilities include maintenance of decorative flower boxes and baskets, compost system, trails, lawn and grounds.  There are collaborative, supervisory and educational aspects to this position, as well.

Housekeeping and Serving Supervisor

This position is a working supervisor who oversees and implements housekeeping of all public buildings and guest accommodations at Camp Denali and North Face Lodge.  Training, supervising and evaluating approximately ten housekeeping staff each season, overseeing laundry, and managing in-season housekeeping projects comprise the bulk of the responsibilities in this position.  As Serving Coordinator he or she is also responsible for training breakfast and dinner servers at both lodges and monitoring their progress throughout the season.
